  • Day 1 - Apr 18, 2024 | Depart the USA

    Depart the USA for Johannesburg. Delta and United both have direct flights to JNB from ATL and EWR respectively, you can also fly from the USA to any major European city and then make your way down, Doha also has direct flight to JNB.

  • Day 2 - Apr 19 | Johannesburg

    Arrive in Johannesburg (JNB) and transfer to The Westcliff Hotel, situated in the city’s most exclusive residential suburb. This evening is at leisure.

    After breakfast on the terrace, learn about the fascinating life of South African leader Nelson Mandela. Visit the emotionally charged town of Soweto and experience a full tour of Mandela’s house. Return to the hotel to relax and take advantage of state-of-the-art Spa and hotel amenities.
This afternoon, enjoy an art tour at Goodman Gallery and Keyes Art Mile. Welcome dinner and drinks during sunset at Marble, the city’s best culinary proposal by award-winning Michelin star chef David Higgs.

  • Day 4 - Apr 21 | Johannesburg–Kruger

    Enjoy a panoramic tour of Constitution Hill on the way to the airport for flights to Skukusa and transfer to the lodge at Kruger National Park. Unpack after a light lunch and embark on the first safari (Game-drive) this afternoon. Partake in an African inspired dinner at the lodge.

  • Day 5-6 - Apr 22 & 23 | Kruger

    Get the binoculars ready for a sunrise safari leading into an all-day experience. Surreal encounters await in the African Wildlife World. There are 2 safaris per day, one in the morning and another that starts in the afternoon and goes into the evening, they last approximately 3 hours each. In between, take the time to relax by the pool, nap, and enjoy the spa.

  • Day 7 - Apr 24 | Kruger | Franschhoek (wine country)

    A morning flight will arrive in Cape Town as we make our way to the Winelands. Check in at the hotel and venture into the charming town of Franschhoek, famous for the French cultural and agricultural influence brought in by Huguenot settlers; it is filled with galleries, markets and bistro-like outdoor restaurants.

  • Day 8 - Apr 25 | Franschhoek (wine country)

    This morning, we explore Stellenbosch with a short tour through the historic town renowned for a gracious blend of 18th Century Cape Dutch, Georgian, and Victorian architecture, and surrounded by vineyards, fruit orchards and stunning mountains. Visit the Motor Museum to see the private collection of one of South Africa’s most influential families in business and philanthropy: The Ruperts.
Visit Boschendal, one of the oldest wine producers in the New World with a French vinicultural heritage. After touring the facilities, lush gardens, and wine tasting rooms, we will treat ourselves to a French-style picnic beneath the fragrant pines. Next, visit Babylonstoren, a place combining traditional Cape Dutch architecture with a clean modern style. Walk the organic lush fruit gardens and take advantage of a wonderful shopping opportunity. Return to the hotel for an evening at leisure
Optional: Partake in a walk and dinner at famed La Petite Colombe. Enjoy a culinary experience with a tasting menu and wine pairing and enjoy the Everard Read sculpture garden.

  • Day 9 - Apr 26 | Franschhoek Wine Country: Del Air Graff | Cape Town

    After breakfast, visit Del Air Graff wine estate, showcasing a remarkable art collection and the Dylan Lewis sculpture garden. Arrive in Cape Town this afternoon for a scenic drive through downtown, the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, the neighborhoods of Green Point, and the stadium where the 2010 World Cup was held. Drive through Sea Point, Bantry Bay, Clifton, and Camps Bay. Cape Town was formerly a Dutch fort, a French haven, a British colony, and a key stopping point along the Spice Route. As such, it is founded by the explorers and settlers that claimed its startlingly gorgeous territory as their home, despite its extremely diverse origins with influences from Malaysian slaves and indigenous Khoisan African natives.
Stop for lunch at The Bungalow, a local favorite surrounded by mountains and ocean. After check-in, take a stroll down the pedestrian boulevard by the ocean, Cape Town’s social gathering and outdoor gym hotspot. Tonight, dinner is at Zest, another local spot featuring an African Mediterranean selection.

  • Day 10 - Apr 27 | Cape Town Walking Tour

    After breakfast, tour the city on foot start at the South African Museum, with its display of natural history, geology, ethnology, archaeology, and printing. Walk by the South African National Gallery, gaze at the ornamental gateways of Government Avenue, guarded by Stone Lions. Walk the Company's Gardens and the Houses of Parliament. Adjacent to St George’s Cathedral is the Slave Lodge, a National Museum recording the history of slaves in South Africa. Visit the historic Malay Quarter of the Bo Kaap: Up the slopes of Signal Hill above Buitengracht Street, find a residential area of people descending from Malay slaves and immigrants brought to the Cape during the Dutch occupation. Stop at Atlas spice shop before a light lunch at Truth Coffee, rated the best coffee-shop in the world.
The afternoon is free to explore independently before dinner at a French-Spanish tapas restaurant, Bouchon.

  • Day 11 - Apr 28 | Cape Town

    Optional hike to lion’s head with local friends, continue with a drive through Townships. Discover urban murals, visit the Woodstock Foundry and finish the tour at The Weekend Market: this is the place where you’ll have a unique interaction with locals craft makers and farmers. You'll have a front row seat to learn about the newest trendiest locally made products, meet young entrepreneurs. Enjoy an organic lunch at leisure here at this stunning market by the water.
After lunch, we embark on a tour Cape Peninsula in the incredible Cape Point Nature Reserve, a Natural World Heritage Site. Enjoy stunning views, then drive by the quaint towns all the way down to Simon Town.

  • Day 12 - Apr 29 | Cape Town

    >Optional cable car up to the top of Table Mountain.
    Optional shark swimming excursion. (departure is at 5am)
    Visit the iconic Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden. Continue to Norval Foundation, showcasing the works of world renowned South African artists. Lunch and wine tasting at Steenberg Winery. In the afternoon, take a panoramic driving tour of the Southern Peninsula Ou-kaapse-we, Noordhoek, Chapmans Peak, Constantia-nek. Our farewell dinner is at Test kitchen Fledglings, one of South Africa’s best culinary experiences!

Travel Prep

We recommend booking at least 7 months in advance if you want to use Frequent Flyer Miles or the American Express Platinum card 2-4-1 program. Please request a quote if you would like Coda Tours to assist with international airfare bookings. We often can offer favorable rates for Business or Economy class at a standard fee of $35 per ticket.


Intra-tour flights are at an additional cost and are outlined in the table. Coda Tours will book these on your behalf.

A valid passport is required for international travel and must be valid for 6 months after the return date of travel and have two blank pages available per country visited. No visa is required for American and Canadian passport holders for this tour.
All travelers must be up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines and have proof of vaccination that is verified by a medical professional. No other immunizations are required for travel on this tour; however, the Center for Disease Control suggests that all travelers be up to date on routine vaccines, including Chickenpox (Varicella), Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertussis, Flu (influenza), Measles-Mumps-Rubella (MMR), Polio, and Shingles. For this tour, it is especially important to be up to date on your Hepatitis A and B vaccines.

Coda trips are casual at all times. There is no need for a jacket or tie. Pack for a variety of weather while traveling in South Africa. It can become cold quickly and unexpectedly in the evenings. Bring a light jacket or sweater. Jeans, khakis, and shorts are fine for daily wear. Comfortable shoes are a must. There will be opportunities for hiking, biking, and walking. All hotels offer laundry service but it can be expensive.
