argentinaWe arrive in Buenos Aires early this morning and transfer to the hotel. Rooms will be ready for immediate occupancy. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax after the flight. The hotel is located in the chic Recoleta District and is in a wonderful walking area that has many upscale stores, restaurants, and boutiques.

In the evening, we will enjoy a Tango Rojo dinner show at the sophisticated Faena Hotel. This Cabaret is designed by Philippe Starck and brings back nostalgic times with the strength of an extraordinary show full of fantasy and sensuality.

For those who would like to extend their evening, we may explore some of the famous gay nightlife of Buenos Aires.

Day 3

SUN JAN 14 • Buenos Aires City Tour

argentinaToday we will visit the oldest cemetery in Buenos Aires, the Recoleta Cemetery and final resting place of Eva Duarte, known as Eva Perón (Evita). We follow with a visit to the Evita Museum, devoted to the life, work, beliefs and values of María Eva Duarte de Perón.

In the afternoon, we will drive through the district of Palermo with its beautiful parks and artificial lakes. The City Zoo, the Botanical Garden of Buenos Aires, the Argentine Horse Track and National Polo Fields are all located in this area. We will also visit one of the trendiest neighborhoods in Buenos Aires, Palermo Soho & Palermo Hollywood, bursting with design boutiques and restaurants.

San Telmo is the best kept historical neighborhood and oldest district of Buenos Aires. Here we will have time to stroll around Plaza Dorrego, where the atmosphere is purely Porteño (the essence of the people of Buenos Aires). See some wonderful open-air shows, hear some veteran tango singers, and buy something truly unique at the most interesting attraction the city of Buenos Aires has to offer, the San Telmo Antique Fair. Today you will get an idea of what the culture of Buenos Aires is all about.

Day 4

MON JAN 15 • Buenos Aires of Yesterday

Today we discover 3 architectural icons of Old Buenos Aires. First we will have a guided tour of the Colon Theatre, one of the world’s best known opera houses and the cultural pride of the city. Afterwards, we continue to El Ateneo Grand Splendid, one of the biggest bookstores in South America. Located in the ritzy Recoleta neighborhood, El Ateneo originally housed the Teatro Grand Splendid and hosted shows by tango singers Carlos Gardel and Ignacio Corsini. We continue to Avenida de Mayo, our last stop, at the famous Café Tortoni, the most traditional café in Buenos Aires, and the oldest literati café.

In the evening, dinner is at the fashionable Elena Restaurant.

Day 5

TUE JAN 16 • Buenos Aires | San Carlos de Bariloche

This morning we fly to San Carlos de Bariloche. Upon arrival, we transfer to the Llao Llao Hotel. San Carlos de Bariloche is situated in the Andean foothills and can be compared to the Swiss Alps for its beauty. Situated on the southern shore of Lago Nahuel Huapi, Bariloche is the most important town in the area and the best departure point to explore the lakes, forests and snow-capped mountains. We will tour the town and surroundings this afternoon including a chair lift to the summit of Campanario hill at 3,444 feet.

Day 6

WED JAN 17 • Villa La Angostura-San Martin de los Andes

Today’s excursion travels north by Manzano Port and arrives at Villa La Angostura. Once you leave the village behind, you will be on the Camino de los Siete Lagos, or Seven Lakes Road surrounded by an endless panorama of natural beauty. We arrive at San Martín de los Andes, a lovely town on the shores of Lácar Lake. Enjoy lunch here before we return to Bariloche.

Day 7

THU JAN 18 • The Lake Crossing: San Carlos De Bariloche to Puerto Varas

Today we have a busy day and an early departure as we cross the Andes and go from Argentina to Chile. First, we cross the Nahuel Huapi Lake on a catamaran. We then transfer to a motor ship and sail the Frías Lake and have our first splendid view of Tronador Hill.

Here we proceed through lush Andean vegetation to the Vicente Pérez Rosales pass and enter Chile. From the border, it is only a short ride to Peulla where we will stop for lunch. Then we board the Lagos Andinos Catamaran and set out to cross the waters of the Todos Los Santos where we will have views of Mount Puntiagudo and the impressive Osorno volcano. We then arrive at Petrohué, and continue to the Petrohue rapids. At the end of this long day we will find ourselves in Puerto Varas.

Day 8

FRI JAN 19 • Puerto Montt | Santiago de Chile

We transfer from our hotel to the airport in Puerto Montt to fly to Santiago de Chile and transfer to our hotel. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon or join us for an optional excursion to Frutillar with a visit to the German Colonial Museum.

Day 9

SAT JAN 20 • Santiago de Chile | USA

In the morning, we will have a city-tour of Santiago and La Alameda, Santiago’s colorful main avenue in the heart of the city. On the way, we will see the Chilean University, the San Francisco Church and the Santa Lucia Hill. We will visit the Pre-Columbian Museum, continue towards the Plaza de Armas and see the Santiago Metropolitan Cathedral. To round off the tour, we will pass through the modern residential areas of the city with their daring architecture and, finally, the bustling Providencia shopping zone.

In the evening, we have an early farewell dinner at the popular Como Agua Para Chocolate restaurant. Afterwards we will say goodbye to South America and transfer to the airport for our flight home.

The tentative dates of planned reforms are as follows:
On February 01st, 2018, reformation works on public areas will begin.
On June 1st, 2018 as planned, the renovation of half of the hotel rooms will begin, which will take place behind closed doors and with absolute blocking of the area to be renovated, as has been done to date.

Travel Documents
  • No visas are required to enter Argentina and Chile for US or Canadian passport holders.
  • A visa is required for entry to Brazil with the optional pre-trip to Iguazú Falls
  • The Center for Disease Control recommends travelers be up-to-date on routine vaccines including measles-mumps-rubella (MMR), diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis, varicella (chickenpox), and polio vaccine.
  • Please note that Zika is a risk in Argentina. Travelers should strictly follow steps to prevent mosquito bites and sexual exposure to the Zika virus during and after the trip.
  • All departures are guaranteed on a minimum of 8 participants. A Coda Representative will accompany a tour that has a minimum number of participants. Day 2

THU JAN 11 • Arrive Buenos Aires | Iguazu Falls

Upon arrival, we will be met by a representative who will transfer us to the Aeroparque airport for our flight to Iguazú Falls.

Upon arrival to Iguazú we will be met by a local guide and transferred to The Loi Suites for the next two nights. This afternoon, we will take a tour of the Devil’s Throat on the Argentine side of the Falls. As a special treat, we will board adventure boats that take us, at high speed, to enjoy one of the most unforgettable experiences: the direct and wet contact with the mighty Iguazú Falls!

Day 3

FRI JAN 12 • Iguazu Falls

Today we will cross the National Park to the Brazilian Falls. Walk along the paths following the cascades and then along the catwalk that leads very close to the bottom of the Devil’s Throat. Take in the impressive panoramic views of the falls on the Argentinean side, like the Two Sisters, Bozzeti, Superior Circuit and San Martin Island, where the movie “The Mission” was filmed.

Lunch is at hotel Das Cataratas on the Brazilian side of the falls. This evening enjoy a special home hosted dinner with an Argentine family.
