Day 3

FRI APR 28 • Ljubjana | Lake Bled | Ljubjana

03lakebledAfter breakfast, take a walk through this charming city. Strolling through the Old Town district we will explore many baroque buildings, the colorful farmer’s market, the cathedral of St. Nicholas and up the hill, above the city, we’ll see the old medieval fortress which stands up there like an old guardian of the city. We are also taking you to a local beerhouse, where you will have a chance to try some of Ljubljana’s famous dishes together with a local draft beer. In the afternoon, drive to Lake Bled area.

We’ll discover Bled Castle and enjoy the amazing views on the high peaks of the Alps. After we explore the oldest castle in Slovenia, you can enjoy a “pletna” boat ride to St. Mary’s Island or join us for a cup of coffee and famous Lake Bled cream cake. You will definitely feel like the time has stopped and you are a part of wonderful fairytale.

Day 4

SAT APR 29 • Ljubjana | Postojna | Rovinj

04rovinjAs we leave Slovenia, we stop in Postojna, a little town famous for the Postojna Cave. This natural wonder is an underground world of caves filled with spectacular limestone stalactites and stalagmites which form pillars and take on fantastic shapes and forms. We will take a train ride into the heart of the underground fairyland and admire the greatness of the geological history of the Earth. Enjoy lunch and continue to Rovinj, Croatia.

Check in to the hotel. Afterwards, depart on a walking tour of Rovinj, the Blue Pearl of the Adriatic, one of the most picturesque towns in the Mediterranean. Part of the Venetian Republic for over 500 years, the Old Town is perched on an elevated peninsula, surrounded by Venetian terracotta-roofed houses and crowned by the Church of St. Euphemy from the 18th century whose bell tower dominates the Rovinj silhouette. The cramped area of the former island dictated the appearance of the town that is characterized by high houses, narrow paved streets and small squares. Enjoy the colorful shops, galleries and open-air markets.

SUN APR 30 • Rovinj to Pula

05pulaAfter breakfast, we will Drive to Pula at the southern tip of the Istria peninsula for a visit to its great amphitheatre, constructed between 27 BC – 68 AD with much of it still standing today. Continue on to a family-run olive oil farm in Vodnjan, renowned for producing one of the top 15 olive oils in the world, for a tasting tour.

Day 6

MON MAY 1 • Rovinj to Plitvice Lakes | Continue to Zadar

06plitvicelakesToday we journey south to one of Europe’s great natural wonders. Be led through zig-zagging timber footbridges. This scenic wonderland is comprised of 16 interconnecting lakes, flanked by waterfalls and primeval forest. Visit Korana Canyon to see the 70m high falls and Tomicevo Pegledalo for spectacular views. After the visit continue to Zadar and check into our beautiful resort.

Day 7

TUE MAY 2 • Zadar | Sibenik | Zadar

07zadarZadar is a Croatian city located between Rijeka and Split, not far away from Sibenik. A town that’s a few thousand years old, it was the capital of Dalmatia for many centuries. The Zadar peninsula still preserves very old network of narrow and charming city streets, as well as a Roman forum dating back to the first century AD. The pre-Romanesque Church of St. Donat dates back to the ninth century, and it is certainly Zadar’s most famous spot. After lunch continue to Sibenik for a city tour enjoy the afternoon at leisure at our resort.

WED MAY 3 • The Dalmatian Coast to Split

09split1,700 years ago, the Roman Emperor Docletian built his palace here and today it forms the nucleus of the old town. Our guide will lead us through the labyrinthine streets and arcaded squares to see St. Duje’s (originally Diocletian’s Mausoleum), the Temple of Jupiter (today, a baptistery) and the Golden Gate. Venture underground into the rooms thought to have housed his slaves.

FRI MAY 5 • Split to Dubrovnik

10dubrovnikDrive south to Dubrovnik this morning to the Pelješac Peninsula. In the afternoon, take a tour of the Pearl of Adriatic – the old town Dubrovnik. The great George Bernard Shaw wrote, “Those who seek paradise on Earth must come to Dubrovnik,” Explore the stone-paved streets inside the 16th-century bastions. See the Rector’s Palace, Onofrio’s Fountain, the city walls, as well as the Franciscan and Domincan monasteries.
