Arrive Santiago and transfer to our hotel for check in and time to freshen up. This afternoon, we enjoy a city tour of Santiago. Santiago, Chile's capital and largest city, sits in a valley surrounded by the snow-capped Andes and the Chilean Coastal Range. The Plaza de Armas, the great heart of the city's old colonial core, is home to two neoclassical monuments: the 1808 Palacio de la Real Audiencia, which houses the National Museum of History, and the 18th-century Metropolitan Cathedral. After visiting historic Santiago, we will continue to the eastern part of the capital, where the financial heart of Santiago is located, known for its modern buildings, imposing glass towers, and works of outstanding national architects. Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Valparaiso. Chile's Pacific Coast is dominated by two neighboring but quite different cities: Valparaíso and Viña del Mar. The second-largest city in Chile, Valparaíso, enjoys a spectacular location between the mountains and the sea. Valparaíso is a historic port and university town, famous for its more than 50 small hills which are covered in quaint, colorful old houses. Our city tour shows us the Old Town and the New, visiting the Plaza de la Victoria with its lovely Neptune Fountain, the famous Turri Clock, the docks and fisherman's' wharf, the Naval Academy and, of course, Chilean Nobel Prize-winning poet Pablo Neruda's Valparaíso residence, "La Sebastiana". Then enjoy an exquisite lunch served at a Local Restaurant, where you have time to enjoy the views before taking the funicular railway down the hill. Just ten minutes to the north of Valparaíso lies Viña del Mar, Chile's premier coastal resort. Here, discover fabulous beaches and a bustling commercial sector. Viña del Mar is known as the "Ciudad Jardín" (Garden City) thanks to its lavish gardens and subtropical atmosphere. Return to Santiago. The evening is free to discover Santiago dining scene on your own.

Breakfast at the Hotel. Transfer to Santiago Airport to board your local flight to Puerto Natales. Upon arrival at the airport, we will be greeted by The Singular staff. They will transfer us to The Singular Patagonia, which is just a 15-minute drive from Puerto Natales airport. Once we arrive at the hotel, we can enjoy some leisure time at the spa or, depending on arrival time, take a historical tour of the Cold Storage Plant. At 7:00 pm, there will be a welcome drink and a meeting with the guides to sign up for the next day's activities. Dinner will be served at 8:00 pm at The Singular Restaurant.

This excursion is especially recommended to those who would like to experience an authentic Patagonian day by sharing some time with gauchos and enjoying a typical gastronomical and equine activity in the area. We will navigate 11 nautical miles from the hotel to “La Peninsula” Estancia, located on the Antonio Varas peninsula. Horseback riding, trekking, or simply talking to the locals will be part of the planned activity. We will savor an exquisite “Asado al Palo” (Patagonian barbeque) followed by a lesson on the sheep shearing process and how they spin the wool. It will be a wonderful opportunity to connect to the local spirit at this remote austral zone.

There are three different ways to visit the world’s 8th natural wonder. It will depend on guests’ interests and physical condition. Trekking Base of the Towers: Ideal for guest who wish to be challenged by a demanding hike and reaching the closest point of the iconic Torres del Paine. The path takes approximately 8 hours and starts at Valle Ascencio, continues by Monte Almirante Nieto until reaching “Refugio Chileno” through forests of Notofagus and then on a steep rocky incline before arriving at the base of the towers. If the weather conditions permit, we will enjoy viewing the splendor of central, north and south of Paine Towers The Water Path Trek: We will enter Torres del Paine National park from “Estancia Lazo”, on the banks of “Laguna Verde” (Green lagoon). We will start our trekking through a quiet trail that will unveil unbeatable views of the Paine towers. While walking between lakes and lenga forests, wewill stop for lunch. We will then continue towards the viewpoint at Toro lake to enjoy one of the best panoramic views of the Park Discovering Torres del Paine National Park: A recommended activity for those who would like to experience the main highlights of the Torres del Paine National Park, considered the world’s 8th natural wonder in one day. This activity is also great as a photo safari tour. We will stop at several privileged viewpoints of the park to see the iconic granite peaks and colorfullakes such as Nordenskjöld, Sarmiento, Pehoé, and Blue lagoon. While trekking, we will discover some of the fauna and flora of the area and we will learn more about the park’s water and rock prehistorical formations. We will also do short hikes towards “Salto Grande”(means big jump) and to “Laguna Azul” (blue lagoon) surroundings to contemplate the horn-shaped towers.

1. KAYAK LAGUNA SOFIA We will depart from the hotel towards Pingo Salvaje, a tourist center located inside a residency called Sofia Lake Ranch, and where the Sofia Lake lies. It is at this location where kayaking begins. As we advance, we will discover black-necked swans, wild geese, ducks and the tuneful chorus of diverse birds gliding between hills.
2. PIONNEERS WALKING TOUR This 4 Km (2,5 miles) hike is ideal for those who would like to learn more about the history in this part of the world. We will walk from Puerto Consuelo, along the banks of the Eberhard fjord and fields that have a strong history of sovereignty and social development en route towards Puerto Prat, a small rural settlement founded in 1899 and the first village of the Ultima Esperanza Province. During the hike, we will be able to enjoy incredible views of Austral zone’s large mountain range.
3. CONDOR’S TREK We will hike to Cerro Benitez, a cliff of nesting condors that is part of the Cerro Toro geological complex, 35 Km (21.7 miles) away from Puerto Bories. After one hour and a half hike, we will reach the summit where we might be fortunate to observe the imposing presence and flight of the austral condors, and relax at this extraordinary viewpoint of Sofia lake and the fjords of Eberhard and Ultima Esperanza.
4. HORSE BACK RIDING AT SOFIA LAKE A horseback riding excursion that lasts approximately 2 hours while riding through valleys, knolls, lenga and nirre forests trails. We will ride through viewpoints and prehistoric sites that remain from glacier formations. We will also reach Benitez Hill and observe imposing austral birds flying over it.

A valid passport is required for international travel and must be valid for 6 months after the return date. No visa is required for USA passport holders for Chile. Empty pages are required for stamps. Be sure you have enough empty pages in your passport. No immunizations are required for travel on this tour. However, the Center for Disease Control suggests that all travelers make sure they are up-to-date on routine vaccines before every trip. These vaccines include measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis vaccine, varicella (chickenpox) vaccine, polio vaccine, and your yearly flu shot. The CDC also suggests that most travelers get a vaccine for hepatitis A because it can be contracted through contaminated food or water in all three destination countries, regardless of where you are eating or staying.
Coda trips are casual at all times. There is no need for a jacket or tie. Pack for a variety of weather. Bring a jacket and sweaters. Jeans, khakis and shorts are appropriate. Prepare for occasion rain showers. For daily wear, comfortable shoes are a must. There will be daily walks and you may choice to do more strenuous hikes. Appropriate hiking boots are required. All hotels offer laundry. Patagonia is known for having the four seasons in one day. It is important to be prepared for those changing conditions by dressing in layers, wearing comfortable shoes and if possible, water resistant as well.
