Following our visit to the school, re-embark our barge having lunch onboard as we continue down the river, prior to a tour around the lakes. This morning depart early to explore Rabaul, driving the upper road from Kokopo to Rabaul stopping for a spectacular view across the Harbour. On arrival in Rabaul visit several significant sites including Yamamoto's Bunker, the strategic command center of Admiral Isoroku
Yamamoto, the architect of Japan's naval triumphs during WWII. During the Japanese occupa;on of Rabaul in WWII, 185 – 310 miles of tunnels were dug into the volcanic soil around the Gazelle Peninsula and the caldera wall surrounding Rabaul Harbour. This was primarily to
hide and protect the Japanese and their materials from Allied air-raids.
Explore the remains of the Old Niugini Club, now a private museum, offering insights into Rabaul's era before the volcanic eruption and independence. eVisa Application
U.S. citizens can apply for an eVisa online (Tour Package) which is valid for 180 days and allows a stay of 30 to 60 days from the date of arrival. The cost is $50. The eVisa is suitable for tourism purposes.

Water Quality: It is strongly advised not to drink tap water in PNG. It’s best to stick to filtered bottled water.
Coda trips are casual at all times. There is no need for a jacket or tie. Pack for a variety of weather. Bring a warm jacket (down or fleece) and sweaters. Jeans, khakis and shorts (when the weather allows for them), hats, scarves and even gloves. Comfortable shoes are a must. All hotels offer laundry service, but it can be expensive. In September, Papua New Guinea experiences the dry season, which typically lasts from May to October. The weather is generally warm and humid, with temperatures ranging from 24°C to 30°C (75°F to 86°F) in most coastal areas. Highlands regions, such as Goroka and Mount Hagen, are cooler, with temperatures dropping to around 10°C to 15°C (50°F to 59°F) at night.
