October is one of the best times to visit China, with mild autumn weather in cities such as Shanghai and Beijing, where temperatures are usually cool and comfortable for sightseeing. Light layers, comfortable walking shoes, and a jacket are generally sufficient for eastern China. In Tibet, however, conditions are much colder and drier due to the high altitude, especially in Lhasa and mountain regions. Travelers should pack warm layers, a fleece or insulated jacket, gloves, sunscreen, sunglasses, lip balm, and a reusable water bottle, since temperatures can drop below freezing at night and the sun is very intense during the day.
For American & Canadian travelers, China currently does not require any vaccines for entry in most cases. Vaccines commonly recommended for China are: COVID-19, Influenza (flu), MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis), Polio, Varicella (chickenpox)
Altitude sickness is one of the biggest practical risks when visiting Tibet because many areas are extremely high:
Recommendations will be given on how to prevent altitude sickness during our trip to Tibet.
All departures are guaranteed with a minimum number of participants. A Coda Tour Manager will accompany a tour also based on a minimum number of participants.
A complete portfolio of pre-departure information will be mailed to you approximately three weeks prior to departure.
